SNOW DAY!!!

Ok, so that big huge storm that is paralyzing the whole North-East of the US right now? Well it's here in CT too!! Last night at about 6:30 they had already canceled school for today, so the girls and I had a great day at home. Generalized laziness in the morning and then we watched G-Force (by the way, pretty funny!) then we headed out into the snow! It was perfect sticky snow, so it was fabulous and we (the girls and I - Daddy was still at work :( built this really cool fort! It's kind of like a castle - up above so they can look over their domain!! I promise to post pictures tomorrow - it was dark when we finished!

And it's still snowing now so I'm guessing at the least there will be a snow delay for Alix (which means no school for the other two...) but I figure if there's a delay they may as well cancel tomorrow too and then we can have girly day - Part deux!! As long as they all go to school Friday so that I can have a moment of peace before the weekend - Nic is going to Saint-Louis for an all-boys hockey and general drunken weekend - fun. So I need a little Julie time before it's all me and the girls until Sunday when we go to pick him up! Plus Alix and Zo have Monday and Tuesday off for "Presidents week"...

OK, that's enough blabbing for now! But I promise pictures of the fort and snow tomorrow!

Back again!!

OK, so I missed last week - but I have good reason...

Probably the worst week, health wise, EVER in the history of our kids...

Maddie started with a nasty high fever - 105.1 - yup, scary stuff... so took her to the pediatrician and they checked her out: not breathing super well, ear infection, and RSV positive... all yuk. They are great though, because right away they had to draw blood, so why not put her on an IV to get the antibiotics for the ear in quicker, and some saline, which will just keep her hydrated and help her along. All that went down without a hitch, then we went upstairs for a chest x-ray... but the radiologist was gone (it was 8:00pm by now..) so wait until Wednesday to get the results. Wednesday: head back to find out she has lower left lobe pneumonia...yuk again, and so they give her some more antibiotic (two shots, one in each leg...) and start her on nebulizer treatments for the pneumonia - breathing still not excellent. Thursday: Maddie is covered in hives....head back down to the peds!!! Determine she's probably allergic to the antibiotic, but could also be the neb treatments, so switch to another antibiotic, and stop the neb. Friday: status quo.... Saturday: Maddie is pretty much out of it, just lying around, in and out of sleep all morning... finaly decide around 2:00pm to take her back (thank goodness they are open weekends!) and they check her saturation (oxygen in blood) - very scary she's at 84% - known as hypoxic. They administer a neb treatment that brings her back up to 91% but as soon as she's done, starts to drop again.... this is when the Dr tells me that she has to call the ambulance to take Maddie to Norwalk hospital... so Maddie and I get to ride in the "bus" (that's what them in the business call it...!!) and at the hospital, one more x-ray (now has full blown pneumonia) and more oxygen, including steroids for her reactive airway, IV put in and admitted up to the pediatric unit. Basically, stayed there until Tuesday and it took her all that time to perk up and feel better... YUK, YUK, YUK....but want to impress upon everyone how totally AWESOME our doctors are at The Center for Advanced Pediatrics - and how amazing everyone was at Norwalk Hospital, Doctors, nurses, PAs, everyone!!! But glad it's over now!!! Lingering results are that now we know that Maddie has an allergy to Cephalosporin antibiotics, and has reactive airway (asthma)....

Anyway, we are back to the regular routine now, and only some mild sniffles and coughs are still lingering!!

We are going to take it easy this weekend and hopefully be back to our crazy antics by next weekend!!

Welcome back to the blog....

Have recently been reading a friend's blog - and have decided that I MUST get back into the swing of this blogging thing... And now that Maddie goes to school 2 mornings a week, I am going to try to update once a week, either on Wednesday or Friday mornings!!

So the latest and greatest with us is that we had a fabulous (and quiet) Christmas, right here in Wilton. And that since then we have been on the move!!! Skiing is now our favorite pastime...Alix is ALWAYS asking when we can go back!!! So last weekend we went to Whiteface - near Lake Placid in the Adirondacks - AMAZING!! I could honestly just sit and watch my girls ski ALL day! Dang they are cute.... Then this weekend we are headed up to Laval, since Nic's grandmother is moving into a new "home". And then we are going to drive half-way home on Sunday evening and spend Monday skiing with our friends at Ascutney in Vermont - the mom is my new good friend, and her daughter is Zozo's BFF!!!

Here are some pictures from skiing...oh, and also a couple from our jaunt up to Val d'Or just before Christmas...oh, and other random pics from the last little while...!!!

La, la, la...!!!

Wow...it's been a while!!

So now that we're on Facebook, it's hard to find time to update the blog AND Facebook AND Shutterfly, etc... so maybe I'll just post here from time to time!!

So now it's October, and we are itching for 2009 to be over... our house was robbed last week, and it just feels like that's the icing on the cake... Hopefully it's the low/turn around point and everything will be uphill from here!!

The good news is that we are really getting settled up in CT. The girls are doing great in school (and preschool) and have made new friends. Last weekend we went to Ambler Farm (local) and had a great load of fun!! Made a scarecrow, decorated pumpkins, ate hot dogs for lunch,... the list goes on!!

The bad news is that our camera AND laptop were among what was stolen, and so no picutres for a while, and also we lost a bunch of pictures because they were on the laptop... if anyone out there has pictures of us taken since January of 2009, I would be SO gratefull if you wanted to burn them onto a CD and send them to us....just drop me an e-mail and I'll give you the address: julielegrispetit@gmail.com

OK, so that's all for now, but please check us out on Facebook for more up to the minute stuff!!

Cheers,

Julie and Nic
