Wow...it's been a while!!

So now that we're on Facebook, it's hard to find time to update the blog AND Facebook AND Shutterfly, etc... so maybe I'll just post here from time to time!!

So now it's October, and we are itching for 2009 to be over... our house was robbed last week, and it just feels like that's the icing on the cake... Hopefully it's the low/turn around point and everything will be uphill from here!!

The good news is that we are really getting settled up in CT. The girls are doing great in school (and preschool) and have made new friends. Last weekend we went to Ambler Farm (local) and had a great load of fun!! Made a scarecrow, decorated pumpkins, ate hot dogs for lunch,... the list goes on!!

The bad news is that our camera AND laptop were among what was stolen, and so no picutres for a while, and also we lost a bunch of pictures because they were on the laptop... if anyone out there has pictures of us taken since January of 2009, I would be SO gratefull if you wanted to burn them onto a CD and send them to us....just drop me an e-mail and I'll give you the address: julielegrispetit@gmail.com

Getting settled in, up in CT!!

Well, sorry for being slow on the update, but mostly I update via Facebook now, so if your not on FB you should really think about it!!!

We are all doing really well up here in New England! The girls have made friends with the neighbours and some little girls down the street, and Alix is ready to start first grade at Miller Elementary School. We're members at the Y, and also Merwin Meadows - a park with a really cute little lake for swimming and playing in the sand.

The house is pretty much set up, though I'm still trying to figure out the girls upstairs: should Alix and Zozo be together - Madeline feels left out.... Should Zozo and Madeline be together - both Zozo and Madeline want Alix, but Alix wants her own room...AAARRGGHHHHH!!!! We'll work it out I'm sure!!

Audrey-Anne has been with us since we moved and I think Madeline will be a little traumatized when she leaves in 10 days...!!!! Yanick and Rachel came down with Chloé, Christophe and Benoit for a week, so it's been pretty busy! We've been to the Maritime Aquarium twice, and the children's museum twice. We're keeping busy and visiting lots before school starts, which happens to be August 31st - Miss Alix's 6th birthday!!

P.S. My birthday is soon too...I'm a little traumatized myself!!!

Big changes...

Well, it's now official, Nic has accepted a new job and we're moving to a new adventure in Connecticut!!
Daddy wil be working in Wilton, and we're looking at houses in and around there, mostly in Ridgefield, CT.
Looks like a really nice part of the world, very much small New-England towns. It will be a big change for us from Houston, Texas, but more like what we were used to in Canada before. It's only a 7.5 hour drive home so that will be nice too. The girls are starting to get used to the idea, lots of questions!!!

NEW PICTURES!!

Hi everyone,

well we had more pictures taken two weeks ago by Pat Sullivan again - I'm just as excitted as I was last time. The first few look great, can't wait to get more!

This week...

What a busy week we had! On Monday Mamie and Papie packed up their van and headed home, on Tuesday Zozo had school, on Wednesday, Jessica watched Zozo and Madeline while I went up to Alix's school to help out with Eureka! - it's a hands-on science experiment that they have every 6 weeks or so. Then on Thursday it was back up to Alix's school with Madeline to watch the class while the kindergarten teachers had their monthly meeting - Zozo rode home from school with Jessica! And then today, Jessica's daughter Rylie (in first grade) had her field trip, so Chase (Zozo's good buddy) came over to spend the day, we went to the park, and watched a movie and did some colouring, .... great fun was had by all! And now Zozo is back over playing at Chase's and Madeline is still sleeping so I've got a few minutes to just relax after our very busy week!!!

Tomorrow we are having family pictures taken with the same photographer as last year (http://www.jpatphotography.com/) for those who remember last years shots - they were AMAZING and i can't wait till tomorrow morning! P.s. if you check out his website...there are pictures of the girls!! so cool!!

Next week we are leaving on Thursday morning very early to go and spend Easter with Grandma in Victoria. Since it was ALOT cheaper, we are flying to Seattle and then driving and taking the ferry across to Victoria. At least the ferry will be entertaining for the girls, but I'm sure they'll be ready for bed by the time we get to Grandmas for dinner!

Then when we get back from our Easter trip Bailey (my cousin and Alix's godmother) is coming to spend a week on her way home from her crazy-fun backpacking/busriding/general craziness trip in Central and South America! We can't wait to see her and show her around Houston and Katy!

I actually just got off the phone with Mamie and Papie and they are safe at home in Gatineau and though they miss their three girls in Houston, are happy to see the other three grandchildren they have back home!

Bye, Bye, La visite...

This morning we said "goodbye" to Mamie and Papie and sent them on their way...I'm not really sure the girls fully understand, but I'm sure they'll be telling us all about it in the nest few days! So the coffee maker will get put away until their next visit, and the house will recover from having 7 people in it and then things will be back to normal. But not for long!

Easter is comming and this year we are travelling to Victoria to visit Grandma, as well as many others who we didn't get to see at Christmas! We'll be in Victoria from April 9 to the 14th and then Bailey should be dropping in on us for about a week! By then it will be almost May and summer will be just around the bend - I'm still figuring out summer activities for the girls (to preserve at least some of my sanity!!)

Spring Break 2009

The first few days of Spring Break this year were cold and rainy (cold by Houston standards!!!) but after that the weather was beautiful and we were able to have lots of fun!! Both Alix and Zozo were out of school so everyone couls come (this does not happen often!!). On Thursday we spent the day with a few of our neighbors - we visited the Bluebell Ice Cream factory in Brenham TX, yum, yum...but no pictures of that since we weren't allowed cameras ;0( Then in the afternoon we went to this Monastery where nuns raise miniature horses (not ponies....) It was so much fun, there was a tiny one that was only 5 days old!!! So cute, no bigger than a Labrador! Then today (Saturday) since Daddy was living it up in Vegas, we went to the beach with Mamie and Papie, the weather was great and we had a great picnic lunch! Wow... already it's March!

I know, same excuses as usual!! I need to spend more time updating the blog....but I'm a busy lady!!!

Nic and I just got back from a great trip to Mexico - as much as I love my girls, it's great to get away from time to time and just relax! We had so much fun and met some great folks. Spent one day visiting the ruins at Coba and then swimming in a Sinote (underground cave filled with fresh water) and then rapelling and zip-lining in a Mayan village before returning to our resort!!! That was a very busy day but well worth it! But all the other days we mostly just sat around the pool and relaxed!

In case you thought that maybe we just abandonned our kids... (LOL) don't worry!!! Nic's parents are visiting with us and watched the girls while we were gone. Now it's back to the regular routine.

Alix is, of course, doing very well in kindergarten, even if she is the youngest in her class, and Zozo is loving every little bit of pre-school, she goes on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 until 2:00 and is never entirely pleased to see me at the end of the day!! Madeline is walking and running around and getting bigger every day, she is starting to really get the message across and talking is surely comming soon.

We are looking at getting another series of familly pictures taken soon, so be on the lookout for those!!

Noel!!!!! Christmas!!!!

I've uploaded over 100 pictures of our Christmas break onto Shutterfly (http://alixetzoelie.shutterfly.com/). Just to update everyone, Christmas was nice and calm for us, we stayed in Houston this year and started our own traditions... Ha! These included; eating sushi on Christmas Eve and then staying up late watching cartoon Christmas movies, Christmas morning opening gifts in Pjs and then having roast beef and ham for lunch at Van and Sheila's house (they are Jeremy's parents, Jemery and Alicia are our friends here in Katy!). Then we put the girls to bed early and had a lovely candle-lit dinner just the two of us!!! Not your typical Christmas, but a GREAT one for us!!! Then on the 26 - but it turns out the 27 (long story, 34 hour story to be precise) Joel and Genevieve came down to visit (but I haven't posted those pictures yet - soon!!). Alix goes back to school tomorrow, and with that our lives will return to normal!!! More news soon!!!
